Darlo fans raise over £500 for Prostate Cancer UK

Sue Boyes, who is the Support Group Development Officer for Prostate Cancer UK, has written to DFCSG board member Rob Duncan who, along with fellow board member Lyn Jasper, arranged for a collection for the charity. Sue has asked us to pass on her heartfelt thanks to Darlo fans who raised over £500 at the Stockport County match on Saturday.

imageI would like to say a massive thank you to Darlington FC supporters and all of the staff for making us feel so welcome. Especially Lynn who went out of her way to make sure we were introduced to all the right people on the day.

We raised an amazing £525 which was way above what we had hoped to achieve. There was a real buzz about the afternoon.

Thank you to all of the Teesside Support Group members ( and Becky, Colin and Andrew) who came along. Without you we couldn’t of done it. Please could you pass on my thanks to Alan as I don’t have an email address for him.

We look forward to continuing our relationship with the club as they prepare for their club to club walk next year.

Well done everyone, you are a credit to the club!

Nominations for Directors of Darlington FC Supporters Group

Notice to DFCSG Members

In accordance with the constitution of Darlington FC Supporters Group (DFCSG), following the election of the first board in 2015, one third of those members are required to retire at each of the three subsequent Annual General Meetings (although they are entitled to seek re-election should they so wish). At the last AGM, four of those board members stood down and did not seek re-election. This year, Andrew Matthews, John Bell and Joanne Cameron have volunteered to stand down (they have the right to stand for re-election). In addition, during the year Michael Cansfield and Mel Prescott resigned their positions, and most recently Wayne Raper stood down from the DFCSG board.

The constitution of DFCSG makes provision for a board of up to twelve directors and therefore there will be vacancies for up to six additional board members to be elected at the next AGM (this has been provisionally set for 16th November but will be subject to formal notification in due course).

With the need to develop the infrastructure at Blackwell Meadows for the Club to eligible for promotion to the National League, this an important period for Darlington Football Club and DFCSG. Therefore, if you feel you have the necessary skills to make a positive contribution to the operation and development of DFCSG in our role as majority shareholder of Darlington Football Club, then we would very much like to hear from you. Ideally individuals would be able devote no less than 10 hours per month, are able to develop ideas that would benefit both the Group and the Football Club and are able to work under their own steam, or as part of a group to deliver and report back at the monthly board meetings. Representatives from the Group liaise regularly with the Football Club so by being a DFCSG board member you can really influence the direction of the Club.

Anyone wishing to put themselves forward as a Director of DFCSG would need to submit their details on the nomination form [download in PDF format] and return to the address below or email to membership@darlingtonfc.org, to be received by Tuesday 24th October 2017 at the latest. If there are more than six nominations there will be a ballot at the Annual General Meeting. The pdf form is editable but to return it by email you would need to print out the completed form, have it signed by your nominators and then email the scanned signed form to membership@darlingtonfc.org.

If you wish to know more about what the role entails please contact our Chair, Joanne Cameron joanne.cameron@darlingtonfc.org or come and talk to us at the fans table at the home match against Bradford Park Avenue on 21st October.

DFCSG Statement re Brian Atkinson & Sean Gregan

Darlington FC Supporters Group notes the announcement earlier today from the DFC board regarding Brian Atkinson & Sean Gregan.

The DFCSG board have been fully consulted over the last few days and are satisfied that the DFC board has taken decisions that are in the best interests of Darlington Football Club, our members, and supporters.

We’d like to place on record our thanks to both Brian and Sean. The significant role they have played in the amazingly successful last 5 seasons will not be forgotten and they will be welcomed back to Darlington at any time. It’s highly unfortunate that the opportunity for them to be joint managers of Darlington FC has been taken away from them by circumstances outside of their control.

We understand this is a period of significant change at the Football Club but firmly believe under a new football management team, that fully buys into the ethos of a supporters owned club, Darlington FC will continue to progress both on and off the pitch.

Farewell Martin

Darlington FC Supporters Group would like to publicly recognise the significant achievements of Martin Gray during his time as manager of Darlington Football Club, alongside his management team and fully backed by our magnificent members and fans.

Martin’s leadership, ruthless ambition and ceaseless work ethic led us to two championships and three fantastic promotions that will live long in the memory. He leaves the club in a much better place than when we all embarked on this journey five and a half years ago. We wish him well in his future management career.

The DFCSG board would like to welcome the club’s new management team, Brian Atkinson & Sean Gregan, ahead of their first game in charge against Stockport County this Saturday and wish them the best of luck. We’re looking forward to developing a constructive relationship with Brian & Sean.

Foodbank Collection on “Non-League Day”

Foodbank Collection

We will be holding our annual collection for the King’s Church Foodbank at the Stockport County match on Saturday, which is part of a network of foodbanks across the town.

Foodbanks are an emergency food resource for people who are unable to feed themselves or their families due to financial difficulties or crisis.

So please bring with you on Saturday an item food, especially non-perishables such as – baked beans, soup, UHT milk, tinned meats/fruit, noodles and pasta or rice, which helps the foodbank to make up a well-balanced bag of food.

The collection bins will be situated on the approach to the home turnstiles.

Quakers fans have always given generously in the past and no doubt this year will be no different. If every fan was to bring just one item of food, it would make a huge difference.

If you are unable to attend the Stockport County match and you wish to contribute to the foodbanks, there are designated donation boxes around town, including Sainsburys and Co-op stores, or you can take donations directly to collection points listed above. Supplies often run low, so donations of food are always gratefully received.

National ‘Non-League Day’

There are no Premiership or Championship matches scheduled for this Saturday due to the international break and this has been designated ‘Non-League Day’ throughout the country, and Darlington FC has a great offer for fans of Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough!

Quakers will admit season ticket holders from Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough – or any other Premiership or Championship club for that matter – for £10 adults and £5 children, on production of their relevant season ticket at the turnstiles.

Non-League Day’s charity partner is Prostate Cancer UK and there will be representatives from the charity within Blackwell Meadows to raise awareness of prostate cancer as well as to receive donations from fans.

So please encourage those friends, family and work colleagues you know that have a season ticket at a Premiership or Championship club. If we can tice them to Blackwell Meadows on Saturday and they like what they see, they might come back next time they have a free Saturday!

Non-League Day was set up by James Doe in 2010 as a social media experiment, after being inspired by a pre-season trip to Devon to watch Queens Park Rangers play at Tavistock. It has now grown to become an annual part of the football calendar, backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, MPs, celebrities, media organisations, charities and most importantly the non-league clubs themselves and the fans who turn up on the day. However, because the way the fixtures have fallen, this is the first opportunity that Darlington FC has had to host a Non-League Day.

The DFCSG - strengthening the roots of our club

The DFCSG created and manage the B2D fund, which is funding available to help establish the Club back in Darlington. The fund acts as the primary collection pot for monies raised from direct donations and events organised by the DFCSG Fundraising Group.

Of course, there are many ways in which you can help the club directly but, if you’re specifically looking for a quick and easy way to support the establishment of a solid foundation for the Club in its new home, then it only takes a few minutes to set up a one-off or regular donation to the B2D Fund either by your online or high street banking service.

For monthly standing orders or a one off donation please send monies to the following account:

“Darlington FC Supporters Group”
Lloyds Bank
Sort code: 30-84-43
Account No: 30283268

To pay by cheque please make cheque payable to
“Darlington FC Supporters Group” and send to

Darlington FC Supporters Group
c/o Blackwell Meadows
Grange Road
County Durham

Please quote your name in the reference area when using internet banking and, on the back of your cheque, include your name and address.

Remember there are many ways to help the Club… can you think of any more? Please tell us about it either by email or in person at the Fans Table in the bar at all home games.

  • Buying a Season Ticket helps to provide the Manager with additional funding needed to strengthen the team at the start of each new season
  • Attending matches provides the club with a constant stream of money throughout the season, from additional match-day ticket sales and revenues from catering and other sales (e.g. programme sales, match-day raffle tickets, 50:50 match-day draw, Club merchandise).
  • The Come On Darlo Prediction League is a fun way to add a little bit of an edge to your season - use your skill and judgement to predict how we and the other local clubs will do in the coming season, and who will be the big winners and losers nationally, come the end of the season.
  • The Sponsor a Goal scheme is a fan-run initiative which has raised over £8000 for the Club since it began in season 2012-13.
  • For as little as £5/month the DFC Fans Lottery Draw provides you with the chance to win either £50 in each weekly draw, or even more in the monthly Super Draw. The Lottery has raised more than £10,000 for the Club over the past 12 months.
  • The Fundraising Group runs a series of entertainment fundraising events over the year, the proceeds of which go into the B2D fund.
The Darlington FC Supporters Group (DFCSG) was established on April 10th 2015 with the merger of the CIC, Supporters Club and Supporters Trust. Darlington FC Supporters Group holds approximately 62% of the equity of Darlington Football Club and is therefore the major shareholder as well as being the Corporate Director of Darlington Football Club 1883 Ltd.
